SPOTTING TIPS

At Pro-Care we want you to have beautiful carpet in your home or business. Just in case you have an emergency spotting job that needs attention immediately we have put together a list of solutions for minor spots.

HOMEMADE SPOT REMOVERS:

Ammonia Solution: One tablespoon clear ammonia to one cup of water.
Do not use Ammonia Solution on Wool carpets!

Dish Detergent Solution: One teaspoon mild dish detergent (a clear non-bleach liquid such as Dawn, Joy or Ivory is recommended) to 32 ounces of water.

Laundry Solution: One-teaspoon laundry detergent to one cup of water.

White Vinegar Solution: One-third cup of white distilled vinegar two-thirds cup water.

Dry cleaning Solution: Carbona or Energine can be found in most hardware stores. Pro-Care offers Gel-break to its customers.

AVENGE: All-purpose spotter is provided for all Pro-Care customers and can be reordered directly through Pro-Care.

Wet/Dry Vacuum: Anytime you can use a Wet/Dry vacuum to extract the spill do so. When you are done working on the spot take some hot White Vinegar solution (1 part white vinegar to two parts water) and pour it directly on the spot and then extract with the vacuum. Using the Vinegar solution or just hot water will help you neutralize the carpet and rinse out any residue from a cleaning product that if left in the carpet might attract dirt.

No carpet is absolutely stain-proof. Many carpets have stain resistant treatments to help improve your chance of spot removal. Spills and Spots should be attended to immediately.

Most Spots can be removed by using AVENGE or a low pH solution (dish detergent solution). Apply Avenge directly on the spot and blot with an absorbent white towel. You can also apply the Avenge, work it in a little with your finger then place a white towel over the spot and use the handle of a hammer to tamp on the spot. This will push the solution along with the spot up into the towel without damaging the fibers from rubbing. Repeat this step a time or two if necessary. If spot remains reapply Avenge, place towel over spot and place heavy object on towel for several minutes or hours to assist absorption process.
